Chef, author, educator and ambassador for Seafish in the South, CJ Jackson, will host the main food theatre at Portsmouth Seafood Festival 2018.

CJ, who is also the CEO of Billingsgate Seafood School, an official partner, is thrilled to be part of the Festival, which returns to Gunwharf Quays and Marina on June 30 and July 1, from 10am to 6pm, following last year’s inaugural success. 

CJ was brought up on a largely self-sufficient farm and family holidays meant fishing trips to Scotland; gutting and cooking her first salmon at eight, a passion for cooking fish and shellfish developed.

Having trained as a chef, she went onto teach and travel, before joining Leith’s School of Food and Wine in 1989. In 2005 she became CEO of the Billingsgate Seafood School, part of Billingsgate Seafood Market and the largest inland fish market in the UK.

Seafish’s mission is to support a profitable, sustainable and socially responsible future for the seafood industry.

CJ said: “Sustainability is the key issue and pointer in choosing any fish. We want to encourage people to eat two portions a week, but to avoid the ‘famous five’ – salmon, cod, haddock, tuna and prawns – try something different! Come along and see what I will be cooking.”

Set to tantalise and inspire whilst celebrating the city’s seafood and fishing heritage, this free event, hosted by Gunwharf Quays (Landsec) is unique in that it delivers 100 per cent seafood vendor content in its programme.
