Winchester Distillery is a partner and sponsor at the 2018 Portsmouth Seafood Festival, which returns to Gunwharf Quays this summer following the phenomenal success of 2017’s inaugural event.
Building upon both the wide-ranging interest and local participation in 2017, this FREE weekend event, which takes place on June 30 and July 1, celebrates the city’s seafood and ancient fishing heritage.
Launched by Paul Bowler in 2014 from his tiny kitchen in central Winchester, and now based a few miles outside the town in Old Alresford, the Winchester Distillery is home to hand-crafted premium spirits using traditional methods and local botanicals sourced from the surrounding landscape, such as watercress, lavender and coriander.
Distillery Founder Paul Bowler says, “At Winchester Distillery we seek to enrich this heritage by crafting premium spirits using traditional methods and local botanicals sourced from the surrounding landscape.
All our products are made by hand in small batches using our closely-guarded recipes as a guide and the master distiller’s twisted nose to fine-tune each batch to perfection. We are supporting the Portsmouth Seafood Festival this year as a local artisan we thrive at these events, which celebrate locally sourced products and bring in thousands to the area.”
Twisted Nose Watercress Gin is a small batch craft gin combines ten botanicals, including locally grown watercress, to create a spirit that is intense, fragrant and refreshing. It received a Great Taste award in 2016 and in 2015 won Hampshire Life drink product of the year.
Portsmouth Seafood Festival is open from 10am to 8pm Saturday (30th June) and 10am to 7pm Sunday (1st July).
